Hourly Genealogical Research:

  • $30.00/hour; a $90.00 Retainer is required

General Look Ups:

Cook County, IL (Chicago) Divorces (1871-1976) requires a 2-Step Process:

1. $10.00for an Index Search for Divorces (I will search a 10 year span). If a divorce is found, the file will be ordered from an off-site archival warehouse. It will take a week or two to arrive and then Step 2 (see below) will take place:

2. $25.00 for the return trip to the courthouse once the file has arrived,  at which time I will digitally color scan it for you. Case files may contain date and place of marriage, children’s names and ages, plaintiff’s complaint including testimony, reason for divorce, defendant’s response, testimony from witnesses, judges final decree and terms of the settlement.

Cook County Criminal Court Records (1871-1900; 1927-1983) requires a 2-Step Process:

1. $10.00 for an Index Search for a Criminal Court Case (I will search a 5 year span). If a criminal case is found, the file will be ordered from an off-site archival warehouse. It will take a week or two to arrive and then Step 2 (see below) will take place:

2. $10.00 for the return trip to the courthouse once the file has arrived, at which time I will digitally color scan it for you. Case files usually only include a few pages from the court proceedings.

Chicago Wills/Probate Files 1871-1976 (Some wills date from the 1850’s)

1. $10.00 for an Index search of a Probate or Will (I will search a 10 year span). If a probate or will is found, the file will be ordered from the off-site archival warehouse. It will take a week or two to arrive and then Step 2 (see below) will take place:

2. $25.00 for the return trip to the courthouse which includes the 1st 25 pages digitally color scanned + $.25 per page thereafter. ***Some probate files are 20 pages whereas some  are hundreds of pages.  If you are only interested in the Heirship Report and/or the Will, please let me know and I will reduce my fee.

$10.00 for Chicago Naturalization Records (1879-1929)

This is from the Cook County Archives if name/index card is found on www.ancestry.com. These are Naturalizations that took place in either the Superior, Circuit or Criminal Courts of Cook County. I can do this much quicker and cheaper than if you order from the Cook County Archives directly.

**Please note that Naturalizations before 1906 only include name, date and country they came from. No sufficient genealogical information is included until after 1906.

$7.00 for Quick Look Ups which Include:

  • Chicago Death Certificates, 1879-1947
  • Cook County Coroner’s Death Certifcates 1879-1911
  • Obituary Look Upsfrom an Chicago Newspaper including the Daily News (date-date), The Bohemian Newspaper: The Denni Hlasatel (1891-1995) and The German Newspaper: The Abendpost and Sonntagpost Sept 1889-Dec 1918. I could also do a search on the Chicago Tribune if you do not have access to their on-line newspaper.
  • Chicago Telephone Directories1839-1960 (but some gaps between the years exist)
  • Chicago Catholic Church Birth, Marriage or Death Records (up to 1915) if you know the church and the date
  • Cook County Coroner’s Death Certificates 1879-1904

$7.00 for Translations of obituaries from these Newspapers:

  • Bohemian Newspaper Obituary
  • Polish Newspaper Obituary
  • German Newspaper Obituary

$15.00 for Translations of Birth, Marriage or Death Recordsfound on LDS microfilm

$10.00 for Quick Look Ups Which Include:

  • Chicago Lutheran Church Birth, Marriage or Death Recordsheld at the Newberry Library on microfilm if the church and date is known.
